Carton Flow Rack in Little Rock, AR

Carton flow presents cases toward a hand-picking face while replenishment feeds from the other side. Plan it around carton dimensions, weights and picking activity, with full-pallet reserves serving a separate role.

Port and Galloway picking: start with the order mix

Little Rock's Port and Galloway areas have e-commerce fulfillment and 3PL warehouse demand. Carton flow can support repeated hand picks when cartons suit the track arrangement. At South Port Commerce Center or Port 440, a bulk building may also hold large pallet reserves, but reserve capacity does not by itself establish a useful pick face. Identify the products picked most frequently and the quantities needed between replenishment trips.

Send carton footprint, weight range and the way each package contacts the tracks. The intended pick face needs enough working access for the actual order sequence. Different carton sizes may need different lane arrangements instead of identical slots. A warehouse serving several product groups should describe their handling patterns before selecting one repeated pick module.

Replenishment should not interrupt the pick face

Draw the route from selective pallet reserves to the carton-flow loading side. If replenishment must travel through hand picking or dispatch staging, reconsider the module orientation. Carton flow and full-pallet storage do different jobs; putting them in the same drawing helps establish where the interfaces belong. Pallet reserves need forklift-served aisles, while the pick face needs an appropriate working area for people handling cartons.

Maumelle's last-mile activity on Sharkey Drive and Alexander's delivery station on the I-30 Frontage Road are nearby market examples, not projects credited to this business. A parcel-related operation should show its own sortation or dispatch area rather than adopt an imagined arrangement from another facility. The rack layout needs to support actual order preparation and replenishment.

Pick heights, building space and installation

Older 15–28 foot clear warehouses in southwest Little Rock and East Broadway differ from newer 32–40 foot bulk buildings at the Port and Galloway. Carton picking does not use every available foot of building height the way reserve pallets might. Establish working pick elevations and the associated reserve arrangement separately, then check columns, aisles and forklift reach for the pallet-storage zones.

Summer heat in non-air-conditioned space should be considered in installation staging and crew access. Weather interruptions may change the release sequence, so agree which picking or dispatch areas remain active. A warehouse relocation should assign destination pick faces and replenishment routes before the move. New modules are useful when the order flow works around them, not simply when they fit within the available footprint.
